Wall Building
The process of arranging shuffled tiles into organized walls before dealing. Each player builds a wall of 19 stacks (2 tiles high) in front of them, creating the structure from which tiles are drawn during play.
What Is Wall Building?
After you shuffle all the tiles (called washing), it's time to build the wall. Each player gathers their tiles and stacks them neat in front of them. Together, the four walls form a square in the middle.
This wall is your draw pile. You pull from it when you pick up tiles and again during the game. The way it's built makes sure everyone gets tiles fairly.
Building Your Wall Section
You make your wall by stacking tiles two high. That's 38 tiles per player, 19 stacks total. Grab from the shuffled pile and stack them face-down, one on top of the other.
Arrange them in a straight line facing you. Space them even so tiles come out smooth when you pick them. Everything faces in toward the center, and it's all face-down.
Pushing Walls to Center
Everyone finishes building, then you all push toward the middle at the same time. The walls form a square shape. That center area is where discards go.
Don't worry about the corners touching perfectly. Leave enough room so you can pick tiles without messing up the next person's wall. Keep it solid and tidy.
Tips and Common Issues
Having trouble with tiles sliding? Your table might be too slick. Get a table cover or felt. Stack carefully, making sure the top tile sits flat.
Don't build too close to the table edge or people can't pick easily. If a tile flips during building, just flip it back. Casual games don't care about perfect walls. Tournaments do.
